The call by the Nigerian Labour Congress NLC for a nation wide strike
which was completely ignored in Kano on Wednesday took a new turn on Thursday.
Officials of the Labour Congress were deployed to some Ministries in the state like the Audu Bako Secretariat which harbours various ministries in the state and denied workers entrance into the premises.
Unlike Wednesday, many government schools sent back home students who reported to school for normal lessons although private owned schools remain opened. Activities at major malls and super markets were observed to be slow as malls and super market refuse to fully open for business. Banks were also shut down by the NLC. And again we will contineou for this strike untill government meet our demands the state NLC chairman lamented this evening.
A coalition of some civil societies in the state took to the streets to protest the hike in petrol price as well as the removal of subsidy. The group match which began from zoo road terminates at Gidan Murtala.
