Earlier this week, it was announced that director Patty Jenkins would return for the highly-anticipated sequel after several months of tough negotiations with DC Entertainment and Warner Bros.

Now, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Jenkins will be teaming up on the sequel's screenplay with DC Entertainment's creative chief (and comics god) Geoff Johns and David Callaham.

Callaham is perhaps best known for writing the first two Expendables movies, developing the story for the remake of Godzilla and working on the Zombieland sequel.
Jenkins has previously made it clear that she has no interest in making Wonder Woman 2 a simple continuation of the highest-grossing superhero origin story of all time.

"The greatest thing about making [Wonder Woman] was the fact that you're really building to the Wonder Woman that we all love, but not until the end of the movie," she recently told ET.

"The most exciting thing about [the sequel] is literally seeing her loose in the world now, living those classic stories. Here's Wonder Woman, and what can she do?

"It should be a totally different movie, but a grand and now full-blown Wonder Woman in the world."

Jenkins's reported deal with Warner Bros to co-write, produce and direct the movie has been valued between $7 million and $9 million, which would make her the highest-paid female director ever.

Wonder Woman 2 is currently scheduled for release on December 13, 2019 in US and UK cinemas.
