On his third album, “Sounds From the Other Side,” released in July, the Nigerian singer Wizkid finally took a leap, years in the making, toward crossover success.
As one of the best-known figures in the West African Afrobeats scene, which has been mined for the current wave of so-called tropical pop (Drake’s “One Dance,” featuring none other than Wizkid), the singer signed with RCA Records and collaborated with Major Lazer and Chris Brown.
Though not a smash — the gentrifiers still typically come out ahead — the album is brisk and danceable, cementing Wizkid as a lasting international pop-cultural ambassador. (8 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 23, terminal5nyc.com.)
