An actor who appeared in US TV show The Shield, Michael Jace is sentenced o 40 years in prison for the second-degree murder of his wife, after her family read an emotional victim-impact statement.
Michael Jace, who admitting shooting April Jace in 2014 and was convicted of her second-degree murder in May, was sentenced in a Los Angeles court after her family members read out an emotional victim-impact statement.

The 53-year-old, who is best known for playing a policeman in the series, apologised to his wife's family and said there was no justification for his actions.
April Jace was shot once in the back and twice in the legs by her husband whose lawyer sought a lesser charge of involuntary manslaughter arguing his client acted in the heat of passion.

Prosecutors had cited testimony from the couple's 10-year-old son, who told jurors he heard his father say: "If you like running, then run to heaven," before firing a second gunshot.
Outside of his TV career, Jace had small roles in films such as Planet of the Apes, Boogie Nights and Forrest Gump.
